All it does is bump the spam back to the top - let the spam get bumped to the bottom by newer threads, then let the moderators delete them when they have time!

You mean there is Sum ting Wong with replying to Mr Wang's post about buying money for a 1$ on the hundred?

If you are the first one to open it, REPORT IT! All you have to do click on the "!". It is in the same line as the edit.

As I’ve mentioned before, most of what they’re after is simply posting a link on a highly ranked, long-established site like this one.
The search engine algorithms place a lot of value on this.
The best deterrent is for the admins to remove the post. If the post stays there for a long time, even if no one responds, the spammer is getting part of what he wants.
