Carburetor ID tag positions

I’ve noticed that NH’s all have the ID tag, regardless if it’s a Holley or Ford tag, or a Model F, the tag where that if you are holding the carburetor in your hand it is legible right side up but the Kingstons are always upside down do that you can read them while standing over it with it installed. Not a big deal except they all seem to be consistent. Today however I was cleaning up a straight through and it’s tag is inverted like the Kingston’s. I also found a swayback NH with no signs of ever having holes drilled for the tag and the vent like a straight through. I guess they were still experimenting with the new models and/or using up the old parts.

Corey

I've never seen a straight-through NH that WASN"T inverted like Kingston. Just looked at 6 on my shelf for sanity's sake and all are as I remember.

I don’t get enough of them to remember but I thought the odd one was the swayback with the vent.

I agree. I have seen very few of the early vents myself...maybe 2. They're out there, though...I even think I recall seeing that someone was reproducing the vent...
