Anyone here know how to remove the ring around the face of this model 11 Stewart speedometer? I need to install new glass and the ring is held on by 3 little brass pins but I don't see a way to remove them. I took off the brass cover from the back but the whole unit is inside a heavy casting like cover. Any idea on what year this thing was made? Sorry for the poor picture, my camera died as soon as I took this shot.

Could it be a twist lock like the head lights? Try turning it one way or the other. Could be 1909 Model 11. The speedometer book says: The Model 11 speedometer, while only installed by Ford at the factory in 1909, was manufactured from 1909-12 and varies in its appearance and construction during this period. The Model 12 looks the same but does not have the trip.

It does not twist in any direction. When I removed the rear cover I could see that the pins are pushed into the edge of the casting and someone before me has tried to either drive one of pins in to remove it or force it in some way and blew out the side of the casting in one spot so I can see the pin going into the casting for a little distance, maybe 1/8 inch but I see no way to remove the pin and the rim of the ring is heavy and would bend or crack if I try to pry it up over the pins. I don't know what this casting is but could be pot metal that was under the brass rear cover.
