Ring gear bolts
In the past I have had to trim ring gear bolts to keep them from hitting the pinion. This one is very close. Is this a common thing or have I got something wrong?

Re: Ring gear bolts
Don,
If using older/used gear sets, this is more common but have had it happen on new as well. Two options, use a very fine SAE displacement washer under the 10 attachment bolts, or install a 5/16" fine thread nut down on the threads and sand/grind down the threads on the bolts to achieve the required length.
Hope this Helps,
Hank

Re: Ring gear bolts
That almost looks like it has an insert in the photo. Does it?

Re: Ring gear bolts
Don, it's not an uncommon occurrence. You only need to shorten the odd bolt which causes the interference. The others can be left as is.

Re: Ring gear bolts
Why are the bolt heads on the tooth side of the ring gear?
