I have a cutout on back order from Langs. By the looks of it other suppliers have the same problem. Anyone in the know have any idea why they're hard to get? Is it only one supplier or a demand issue. I'm just curious. Appears I may not be the only person. I'm just biding my time.

If you need one now. Try Eckler's automotive in Titusville in Florida, they still have 3 new ones listed on Ebay

Only speculating here, but I wouldn't doubt it's due to the fact that so many manufacturers of parts are getting out of the business.
Hate to see what it'll be like 20 years from now, but then it's doubtful I'll be above ground much longer than that anyway.

Did you try Birdhaven, AKA Texas T Parts?

While you're waiting for a cut-out, you might do yourself a HUGE favor and purchase a voltage regulator. Your battery will thank you, and if you bend the legs just right, the cut-out makes a great doorstop.

FWIW, I just received a 6v regulator from Birdhaven, it arrived less than a week after I ordered, but I know these have been out of stock in many places for a long time. The rumor I heard at Hershey was the following: When Funprojects manufacturing was taken up by Birdhaven, the manufacturer used a slightly thicker sheet steel for the regulators (and maybe the cutouts too) and the covers would not fit the base, so that delayed production. At any rate, I appreciate the work all these folks do to provide these replacement parts. jb
