Happy New Year!! I'm trying to repair a barn find generator, but don't think it was all found.
Should there be a gasket of sorts on the bottom of the top tank?
and,
There appears to be a part(s) that control the valve stem missing or incomplete. I know the brass rod is broken at the top, but what else am I not seeing? Drawings or pictures would be appreciated.

The threaded rod and seat should be able to seal off the water in the top tank, then be adjustable by drops per min.The fill cap on the top tank has a piece of brass wire through it which also is a slight vent.Bud.

A friend of mine told me he uses straight Hydrogen Peroxide in his tank, and the lights burn much brighter. After use, he pours it back into the bottle.

Wow Larry! Thanks for that idea!! Never knew/heard of that. And Hydrogen Peroxide is probably cheaper, not to mention cleaner than those stupid carbide pellets! And, your generator will be germ free in the process!! Win-win!!

Ross, pardon the thread drift, but I would be careful about using anything but calcium carbide and water.
I don't think hydrogen peroxide itself is flammable.
If hydrogen peroxide is mixed with calcium carbide, it forms acetylene and oxygen.
Acetylene lamp burners have little air inlet holes in them and the moving acetylene gas draws the oxygen in and it mixes just enough oxygen before the flame outlets.
Larry, can you elaborate a little more about what your friend does? I would be very careful about experimenting.

My acetylene headlamps are bright enough just they way they are!
