Ah yes, I remember the Mount Shasta "Sky 'View" drive in, and stuffing the trunk with kids & chairs to get in cheaper. . . . They took down the screen decades ago, but the lot is still pretty much undeveloped. South end of Mount Shasta City, with the screen facing south--if they'd faced it north, the moon shining on Mount Shasta's snow would have made it hard to see the picture!
T'ake care,
David Dewey

David, even though the local theaters closed years ago we're lucky to have two drive-ins 45 minutes from our home.

Our drive in, you have to have a radio to hear movie unless you are close to the speaker. Besides my T doesnt have a back seat!

No back seat, but you have a pickup bed, and you don't need to hear !! :P

We have one close by, haven't went in years.
I remember my buddies and I going in a 63 Monterey...2 in the trunk and one on the rear floor !!

We used to drive our T's to the Drive-In in Bakersfield and Fresno years ago. We still have one operating here near Sacramento in Rancho Cordova. Its all digital projection and FM for the sound. Might try to rally the group and take in a movie this spring. Will have to take a portable radio.

Ya, been a long time for me too! That early screen was small! Like our avatars only backwards... ;)
How big did the screens get to be? In the late 70's-early 80's, the screens were a lot bigger.
They'd come around with the mosquito fogger and fog the tar out of us but it did help. A little bit.
We do have one still going about 50 miles away but haven't worked it out to go. Maw would prolly want me to kiss her if we went. Uff da.
Since I lost my mind mind, I feel more liberated
