It looks pretty cool to me. You could take a lesson from classic aircraft construction - Fabric stretched over a frame and painted would be lighter than wood in places where you could get away with it. For example, the empty weight of my Aeronca Champion aircraft is less than that of a Honda Goldwing. It has a steel tube frame with wood and aluminum formers and dacron fabric glued, shrunk and painted for the skin.

Herb does excellent work.

Here he is with an example he recently sold.

I transported his 1927 Model T Touring earlier this month from Florida to Arizona for Carol & Keith.
