Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring
I looked at the add originally just out of curiosity. It is a beautiful 1910. Then I realised after a second look the engine number is only 18 different from my Dads old 1910 no#14529 also January 1910. However, both numbers had very different lives. 14529 went over the river to Canada, was fitted with a Canadian timber body and shipped to Australia. I have a picture of the factory job card somewhere. I will try and find it to post here. All the best with the sale. It should sell easily.

Beautiful car. No mention of engine work. Why no spark plug wires? What is the engine number?

Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring
The engine block does not have the casting ridge on the valve side that all 1909 and 1910 engine blocks have.

Not all of them did. I had two original open valve blocks that did not.

Some have a distinct casting line, others it is more faint. The reproduction blocks are uniform with no casting line.

Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring
An interesting situation. My note is that on the several early Model T Fords I have owned and on those I viewed over the 70 years, the stamped numbers were all nice and straight and even in a line. The numbers stamped on this engine are not, they appears tohave done my someone other than one at a Ford factory.

Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring
The number, of course do not have to be perfect, but those I have seen are much nicer. Also the embossment seems rather deep. much deeper that those I have seen. Take a look at the 1910 Kim Dobbins sold and at the close up of the engine number (the second photo showing the number.) note how shallow the embossment is.

Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring
Also mysterious casting bulge on driver’s side block. Seen on early open valve engines.

No casting date on the block as early blocks don’t usually have.

Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring
Joe, the extra " bulge" you refer to above was also a feature of engine no. 14529 indicating they were part of limited run of blocks late 1909 to early 1910.

My February, 1910 touring, no. 15841 also has that threaded boss: I made use of it with an outside oil line!

Yesterday. I flew to Scottsdale, AZ. to look at this 1910 Touring. It's now a running car. I drove it a few blocks and shifted its 2 speed Jumbo Planatar transmission. It has some body blemishes but I liked it and think it could be a nice car for the right buyer. I enjoyed meeting the seller Joe and talking 1910 Model Ts.
Here are some pictures that I took.

Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring $28,500
I’m confused, the first set of pictures show the correct one piece spindle front axle, but the last close up picture of the axle is a different modified later front axle with material added to make it look like an early one? The wheels are red too? Probably posted the wrong pic.

Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring $28,500
That is a nice looking car. If it goes as well as it looks, it would make a nice touring car. If you are looking for a "correct" 1910 model, there is lots to correct, and some of it is quite spendy to acquire.

Re: FS 1910 Model T Touring $28,500
Be carefull driving this car, the pictures show the 1919 -1927 type under axle type front spring perches mounted on the wrong sides. The bosses go to the back side of the axle when properly mounted to give correct front axle steering geometry.

The "modified" axle (pictured attached to red wheels) will be swaped to this 1910 Touring prior to it changing hands.
The 1910 original axle (pictured earlier) will be removed and kept by the owner for use on his other T.

So it’s getting stripped of it’s correct 1910 front axle? What a shame!
