FS 1914 Gentleman's Speedster- Very Fast!!!!
Well a decision was made between Father and Son. His aging (unable to drive) and my occupational/genetic joint damage (hard to perform simple task) time to thin the herd some more. This car was clocked by my wife in our 1972 Vette doing 92 MPH off of Norris hill in Montana in 1997 after the build. The best cruising T we have ever had! No disappointments.
1914 Speedster as Dad always wanted to build, Father and Son build, now where to start on the list of items.
ENGINE
-0.060 over block with Model A rods and dippers
-Model A crank, shorten, Bob weighted, not drilled
-280 Snipe ground cam
-1928 Chevy head with full hard seats, stainless steel valves, set on a flow bench for port balancing
-One of only 2 that I know of.., Neal Jern 6:5 to 1 aluminum adapter plate with a 3.5 degree compression chamber and rough swirl spiral (beyond smooth and performance, can bark the rear tires 20 feet plus with no effort)
-L.V.M.E. Datsun oil pump

-Adjustable pinion bearing
-Eugene Wright outer bearings
SUSPENSION/BRAKES
-Tapered leaf springs
-Hand built Z rear lower drops
-2 1/2" dropped front axle

That my dear is a NICE piece of machinery. I'm impressed. And I'm not impressed by much. If I had that kind of cabbage, that would be in my stable. Very, very nicely done.

Hank....you might want to consider listing them on Bring A Trailor's website. You can set a reserve and be seen by a lot more potential buyers.

Hank,
Great conversation this morning! I know Jay Leno really-really likes T's from his shows. If you think he could be the right man for Dad's 1914 Gentleman's Speedster, you might mail Mr. Leno a portfolio...

Re: FS 1914 Gentleman's Speedster- Very Fast!!!!
To all with the heart felt, sincere comments with my best interest. I am a simple man now, enjoying life with family and dear friends. Yes in a perfect world could get more money, but I live in a real world with current economics. Those type of people with their endless amounts of money in a bank account are not my type of people. Their respect to a craftsman is false as they know no craft, can buy what they want, and make it sound like a privilege to do work for them. They put me very deep into a bottle, hate in my heart, false promises of things they were going to do for me, etc, etc, etc. It almost cost me my life. So I Thank You all, but not my style or cliental. I am content, humbled, and blessed.
Please take this one as a previous past experience. Do your research before knowing me, of the 1918 TT Depot Hack that sold at Barrett Jackson in 2009 at Scottsdale, AZ, (Lot #695.2 1918 FORD MODEL T DEPOT HACK $63,900.00) Made Hemmings, everything. I restored for a gentleman that said, "Oh no I would never sell it" I did the restoration for half of the selling price. Two years of very hard work! He had a kid in college. Once a foul..., never again! Some of you really bashed the crap out of me! VERY UNCOOL! No hate in my heart, but "No Respect either".

Re: FS 1914 Gentleman's Speedster- Very Fast!!!!
Hank. I only want to see the car You and Your Dad worked so hard on for so many years go to a person or place where it can be seen and appreciated by generations present and future. and the next caretaker / owner be someone of the means necessary to properly care for the car. Love it. drive it. show it. maintain it. Your car Your choice. I don't know who bashed the crap out of You. but it wasn't me.
If You have watched Jay Lenos garage much at all You will see that he does respect the craftsmanship in His cars and praises the craftsmen that built them and engineering that went into them. He has a full time staff of mechanics to maintain his cars and a large air conditioned show room and shop to work on them. He has more cars than He knows what to do with. many are as good or better than Yours. so it would be a longshot at best he would even be interested. But it would be a good home. The Henry Ford would be better. Good Luck!
My 2 cents worth maybe less.

Hi Hank:
Beautfully executed asphalt assault vessel. Curious why no front brakes on a vehicle with this potential?

Scott, and Others,
Thank You!
No front brakes are needed as you are sitting back a little farther than normal (more weight on rear wheels), lowered suspension, RMB's and engine brake stop her so well! Thanks for asking.

Interesting how you removed the low and reverse. I would like to hear some on how you did that someday as well as how you like it.

Re: FS 1914 Gentleman's Speedster- Very Fast!!!!
Darel pretty straight forward.., you remove the pins, 6.5 pounds off of the flywheel (rebalance), only use the internal brake drum with clutch basket, plug the reverse pedal hole. Using just the wet clutch with a heavy spring. A lot of mods for the 37 Chevy transmission but worth it! Fly's out of the hole but you need to get it rolling before getting heavy on the gas pedal. Dad was breaking woodruff keys at the pinion having fun so to say. We really love this set up and have done plenty.., 3 transmission kits remain if you want one.., $1,200.00 plus shipping cost at your end.
Yes.., the car is still available.
