1929 Model A for sale

Post by Unprr » Sun Nov 14, 2021 10:31 pm

A family friend has passed away and I have offered to help sell his 1929 Model A

The body is solid and does have it dents and dings. The paint is in fair / Good condition, with little rust. The tire and wheels look to be in very good condition.
As noted in the photos, the seats and door liners are in good condition. ( more photos to come ).

The car has been in a climate controlled garage since it was purchased. It was not started for over a year, due to illness but after adding gas and priming the cab,, it started. I did not drive it but the son of the owner did and looked to run, as designed. ( I have never driven a stick and didn’t want to damage it LOL )
We have a clear Nebraska title. Car is located in Omaha, Nebraska.

In closing, my friend had plans to make this Model A, a daily driver. But time did not allow.

Asking $14,000 OBO

This is a fairly uncommon Briggs Bodied "leatherback" Standard Fordor sedan; not many of the Fordors were made without quarter windows, and even fewer with the Leatherette covered rear section. The lack of a cowl band indicates this was a standard model, as the Deluxe version had the cowl band, and usually cowl lamps too. I don't have my books handy, but from memory, I suspect this is actually a 1928 as this design was pretty early in the Fordor production--but I am trying to remember stuff I knew very well 20 some years ago!

David, I could be wrong, as since I sold my '30 long ago, didn't the '28s & '29s have what I call that "sculpture" piece just forward of the front doors, with the slight downward curve toward the bottom? This one doesn't, so I wonder if its not really a 30 or 31? You tell me, you probly know better!

I think that depends if the body is Murray or Briggs.

David is correct, the car is Briggs body 4 door. The square window tops were a Briggs feature. The car looks to have the 1929 teacup type taillight, the car is a standard model with no cowl band or cowl lights, it was probably made in early 1929, many standard cars used the drum tail light into February 1929 production but the teacup taillight was also used. More pictures of the motor and interior would be helpful, the car looks like a nice Model A.

Is the body wood in good condition?

I would suspect the wood is fine by looking at the fit of the doors, and the lack of rubs on the door sills.
I notice in these additional pictures that the door pulls are the separate Nickeled or Butler finished die-cast kind. If the window trim frames haven't been replaced, that would also indicate '29 production as the earlier standard models had stamped pulls made as part of the trim frame, and were painted with the frame (these model also didn't have woodgraining, but were "Mocha Brown" finished. Will make someone a nice car. These bodies are very solid and make for a pretty quiet, smooth ride--but they aren't as quick as the lighter roadster and coupe bodied cars.
T'ake care,
David Dewey

I believe they're the best looking of the sedans.
