1911 Model T Touring - Fred Lau restoration

Post by KWTownsend » Wed Mar 22, 2023 11:47 am

I am listing for a friend who has a magnificent 1911 Model T that was restored by the late Fred Lau of Portland, Oregon.

Some of Fred’s cars were featured in Bruce McCalley’s books From Here to Obscurity, and Model T The Car That Changed the World. It has a show quality restoration and was driven only 11 miles following its completion. It is an all stock car, with all original and correct hard-to-find
1911 parts. It has the correct differential, drive line, all-original brass lights, horn, headlamps - not reproductions. Fred was obsessed with fine
details. The upholstery- diamond tufted leather and top are exquisite. The fit and finish is exceptional. Mechanically it is perfect, like a brand new all-stock, 1911 Model T.

His asking price is $45,000, but I believe he would entertain an offer in the $40-45 range.

The car is currently located in a small community just east of Portland, Oregon. I am happy to forward contact information to folks with serious inquiries.

This car has been listed in the HCCA site for quite a while too.

Fred Lau was a top notch restorer, and a real class act. This is a fine car.

1911 Model T Touring - Fred Lau restoration

I have personally transported at least
five 1911 Model T vehicles ranging
from a project in pieces to restored
examples - this is the finest example
I have seen - judging by the images
posted - something is going to be
a proud Caretaker.

Thank You to The Two Special K’s ….

I'd prefer dark blue, but the car looks fine in red, and it looks like a good buy at the price. If I lived on pavement, I'd strongly consider it.

Darel, one day I asked Fred why he painted it red? He replied, "At the time I always wanted a red Model T." He had restored this car before he got #220 from Kim.

I used this car as my guidance when I was doing the upholstery and top for my 1911.

Pat, I agree that the car looks fine in red and it is a stellar buy at the price. You would not be able to restore a car for that kind of money. Maybe it is time for some asphalt?
