WTB. Steering bracket for 'TT' Right Hand Drive.

Post by v10pdownunder » Tue Sep 03, 2024 4:36 am

Part no. 3539C that attaches steering column to chassis rail. Will be made as mirror image of standard unit.
Most likely to surface in Australia, U.K., New Zealand or Argentina right hand drive markets ?
I could actually make use of 2 of them.

I have one somewhere Ivan. It is not a mirror image of a LHD unit though. There is a cast in boss on the inside that goes to the frame rail. Perhaps all RHD ones were like this. I'll see if I can trip over it some time.

Thanks Allan, i await your contact.
Looking at several period parts books, it appears that the part number either duplicates with other parts or changes over years ? ?
The John Andrews, Ford agents in Auckland's parts listing for 1917 has a totaly different number.

I can well understand a 1917 parts book having a different number. Didn't the TT's come later than that?

As stated, it is a detailed book put out by agent in Auckland (under Colonial Motor Co umbrellar), but someone previously hand written date 1917 in it. Looks like actually late 1919 as covers trucks and tractors but still has war related content (WWI), but only lists parts for up to 1918 models.
Part numbers seem to vary fom USA listed numbers.

My New Zealand parts book lists 2 for the TT 3539 RC 1918-21 then the new one to be able to mount the generator on the block, RHD, 3539 RE 1921-27

I found it Ian. Cast into the underside is TT 1924-B With the Ford script below and an A in a circle, most likely the maker's mark. It has only one hole, for the advance/retard rod, so will be for a generator equipped vehicle. Au$20 plus whatever the postage is.
