FS: New item - Speedometer/Tachometer
Limited stock at this time on a new item. Built in the same housing as the large Model T Ammeter is a combination Speedometer/Tachometer that connects via 2 wires to the working Model T magneto and ground. The device draws only a very small current from the magneto and operates the meter movement to precisely indicate the RPM of the motor at all times when the motor is running. No other connections necessary. The housing is not grounded so you can install this in wood or metal location as you choose. The speed is accurately calibrated when you are in high gear and the unit assumes you have a standard 3.63 T rear and and standard 30 x 3-1/2 rear tires or balloon tires of same diameter. On special order I can make the face read ONLY RPM with a full scale RPM of your choosing. I can also re-calibrate a face for accurate speed on Model T using any rear end ratio, maximum speed, and tire size combination. The prototype unit has been tested for several months by a well known Model T guy and he had no issue. Price is $125 including S&H for standard Priority Mail. Orders shipped to Illinois must add IL sales tax. Special order versions may be slightly higher. Please email with any questions since I am stuck at home anyway here in IL.

6V or 12V? But for heaven's sake don't let anybody know I helped with a distributor setup if I succeed. I will take a look at it. I think somebody once sent me a distributor to use as a wheel chock.

Hi John,
12v would be good for another two of my applications with distributors.

I wasn't expecting such a big hit here so going to be busy today. Bench time isn't easy to find time for.

I'll take a tachometer only. Very cool! Excellent use of modern technology for something realatively simple!

John,
On that red speedster you saw my son drive in Minnesota, I have a dizzy, no magneto, and 3:1 rear end. Any way you can make one work?
Thank you.
Dave

Re: FS: New item - Speedometer/Tachometer
The speedo tach as designed can be re-calibrated to operate on any of the common Model T rear end ratios and also with any tires size you have for rear wheels. But the face of the Speedo will have to change because the RPM changes the MPH when the rear end gear and/or tire size changes. I hope to develop a catalog of faces so that one can send in their speedo tach or bring it to a show I am at and I can set it up for a different rear end or tires and it can be done quickly while you wait. Out of town can simply send me the unit and supply return postage and pay for only a different face choice from the catalog. I have NOT developed the catalog just yet but I am working in that direction. I am only one person and once summer comes then I want to tour so other stuff must wait till fall. My wife's rule - thus that is the law in these parts.

LOL Kim: The problem is that everyone wants me to be spending time on THEIR special product but decided to finish up started projects first but I HAVE spent some time with your Shug coil. Unfortunately I have also found some other Schug coils that have me wondering which came first.

Re: FS: New item - Speedometer/Tachometer
For those interested: I have 0-2000 RPM Tach only face artwork and 0-2500 RPM Tach only artwork. These are not mass produced like the standard Speedo/Tach face and I have to manually punch and cut them out but they are easy to read and work OK. I have been asked to make 0-3000 RPM Tach too and have such a face artwork laid out but not yet made into a meter. I am only one guy and I have to do it all by myself so please be patient with me AND the internet I am sometimes connected to ha ha.
