Early - the later pipe had a pressed collar as it became a part of the pressed steel muffler assembly.

Not very early as the 2 bends at red arrows were added to allow the pipe to miss the stamped steel running board brackets that go across the frame from one board to the other.
Earlier pipe has a compound curve at the hand brake cross-shaft.
