WTB - Under Front Seat Panel

Howdy from Texas.

I'm looking for the hinged panel that goes under the front seat....above the gas tank, for my 24 Touring.

Here's a photo (not mine) that shows it.

If I could get the panel and the hinges, that would be even better.

Thanks,
Don

According to the Encyclopedia, 1922 was the last year for a gas tank cover. It served a useful purpose, but deleting it after 1922 saved a few pennies per car.

I don't like having the seat springs rubbing directly on the top of the tank of my 1924, so I use a piece of corrugated cardboard cut to shape with a hole for the filler cap. When it wears through, I toss it and cut another one. :)

Did not see in my swap meet trailer. Must have sold at Hershey last year. If I find it I will list it.

Some have used a piece of Masonite to just lay in the opening. Drill out a hole to use a finger to pick it up.

That's a good idea....and the reason why I wanted one.

I installed my new seat spring the other day and it started rubbing on the tank.

Don if you could borrow a good example, I could make you one. I have the 3/4" round bead roller dies for my machines.

Don,

It’s your lucky day. I had one in the barn with hinges attached. Send me an email.
