WTB Edison 14 spark plug

Post by NealW » Mon Jun 22, 2020 9:18 pm

I reinstalled the Edison 14 spark plugs when I was restoring our 15 runabout. The car runs great with those plugs, but one of the electrodes was partially eaten away. I'd like to buy a NOS or "gently used" Edison 14 spark plug so that I can swap out the one plug.

Please send me a PM or email if you have a spare Edison 14 cluttering up your box of T parts that you would like to sell!

Thanks,

Neal

I don't have any I want to sell, but if you are trying to match what you have? You should post a good photo or two, or a very good description including major dimensions, number of ribs (if any) near the top of the porcelain, and whether the base is "take-apart" or not.
I have had, and seen, a fair number of Edison plugs over the years (both 13s and 14s). They came in several variations. I have three 13s (dual electrode) that I wanted to use many years ago, but I never found a fourth that matched them! Since then, I decided they should take up space in my small display cabinet.

If you don't mind, please post a picture of the worn plug. Unless the electrodes are worn down to a nub, I would think that filing the electrode edges back to their original shape and regapping would make it work good as new. :)

Edison 14s do show up on Ebay occasionally, but you have to have to have a sharp eye - often one or two will be mixed in with a random bunch of plugs for sale, or it will be identified as an Edison, but the description won't spell out that it is a 14 or for a Model T. :)

I could probably file down the electrode a bit to square it off. I don't recall which plug it is, so with my luck I'd need to pull all four plugs to get to the correct one! Right now a corner is eroded off, and so I bumped the other electrode over a bit to get the desired gap. It seems to be working fine, but was hoping to find one with less wear and keep this as a spare. If no one has one, I'll just continue to watch ebay for one
