Charlie,
While on Tour in South Dakota I was suffering with sediment plugging the sediment bowl. After cleaning several times and not getting very far before plugging again I thought my tour was over the first day.
I put a magnetic on the bottom (outside) of the tank attracting the rust to the magnetic area.
Solved my problem, I thought temporarily. When I got home I attached a magnet to a 3/8's rod and pushed it inside the tank to the collected rust. Pulled the magnet off the outside of the tank and removed the collected rust. Did this about twice a year for a couple of years.
Still have magnet there, no longer collecting rust, cleaned it right up. Worked ;)
Brian.

Might want to go back and put oval in the title. Just click on the pencil over on the right.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

I have a rusty internal one. But it held fuel depending on your current situation.

Charles,
There are several previous discussions on this subject that may be of good value to you if you care to do your homework. If your tank does not leak, you could be able to get through this. Stan Howe had a contribution as did several others. Toss in the 100 drywall screws BUT count them, create a way to turn it like a dryer drum for as long as you have patience or until you have success. Add enough hand shaking end to end until you fear arthritis or cancer and you may win. I am not a fan of coating the inside of anything that you cannot see or be in control of but others have found satisfaction.

Look up Renew gas tank sealers. See if one is close to you. Be told they do a good job with a lifetime warranty. Dan

I used the 100 drywall screw method this worked well with a little tip from an older friend. He suggested using some line and make a cradle to hang the tank from a tree limb in order to help with the arthritis issue . - Craig
