1 cylinder model t motor
I have a one cylinder motor that uses all model T parts. I was planning on building a model t motorcycle using model t parts for the frame. I'd like to get $500 for it. It's missing the head but everything else seems to be there. These were made for a short time, I'm sure Henry put the kibosh on them, that's why they were in production for a short period. . It looks just like a model t engine, even a model t non starter timing cover fits right on! Pistons, rods, valves, all work perfectly. I'll try and post photos soon.
I'm only selling because I lost my storage area. Life is constant adjustments! This would be so cool as the only model t motorcycle! I'd be glad to share my ideas for building the frame using springs and frame parts.

Re: 1 cylinder model t motor
Help a guy years ago with one that was a two cylinder version, he called it an ice cream motor as they were used in the day to turn ice cream at large county fairs. Talk about time on your hands and funds are low! Pretty Cool!

It is a marine engine. (Boat motor). It might be a Lockwood-Ash. I believe they were about 3 hp. There should be a flywheel on the rear end of it. Anyone who can fabricate the missing head can certainly make the flywheel too. The flat casting is to mount a single spark magneto and the bronze casting is the water pump that would intake directly from outside the boat.

Re: 1 cylinder model t motor
Ok Michael,
I've been poking around. It appears that it is missing the head, flywheel, valve chamber cover, the eccentric that drives the water pump, and the intake and exhaust manifolds.
This does not scare me, but it is a big project. I have always been intrigued by them and thought it would be fun to have. But, other than the T parts, I dont assume any other bits are readily available. It is just cubic time.
I have a friend coming thru that way in Sept. who could bring it back to Mich, which would help on shipping.
Would that be a problem, it hanging out until then?
