Front Axle accessory

Post by tselliott » Tue Jul 07, 2020 11:21 pm

I’m sure these would have been sold as a Band Aid Fix for worn out spindle bushings. The name on them is Burdette. This is the first pair I have ever seen. These are in as found condition.
$25 plus $7 shipping

It isn’t for fixing spindles with a worn out bushing diameter. It puts a small amount of controlled bind on the spindle to help prevent shimmy issues that were fairly common on some T’s with 21” balloon tires. The shimmy issue can be eliminated by proper endplay on the spindle bushings and proper adjustment of the spindle bolt tension in the axle yoke. This has to be adjusted slightly every several hundred miles. These accessories allow you to avoid making those periodic adjustments.
