NOS Simmons/Wizzard straight through carb

Post by Bruce Compton » Sat Sep 05, 2020 6:02 pm

I have a Simmons/Wizzard carb that I truly believe is NOS. There are no signs of it ever being installed on a manifold and absolutely no wear on all the spots that are prone to wear (mixture adjustment, throttle linkage hole, throttle shaft/bore, weak or broken choke spring, etc) and no evidence of ever having had fuel in the float bowl. The needle and seat as well as the float appear new (as they are) and the flapper pivots as it should but is tarnished from age. The original decals are still on the bowl but the whole carburetor is "grungy" and sure looks like it was not stored well. As they are only original once, I'm offering it guaranteed, with the correct patina to anyone wanting that look for $250.00 including shipping, or if you prefer, $295.00 including shipping for it "restored" but the decals will be gone.

Yes, I think they run every bit as strong as a Holley straight through and idle better.

New price; $220.00 as is or $250.00 "restored" (no more decals or original patina) and including shipping.

If it has original decals almost has to be NOS. Restoration externally would devalue IMHO. Nice piece!

That's what I'm thinking too Michael. It's virtually new on the inside but looks really old on the outside. They are just as good as a Holley straight through but somehow not as popular. I think maybe a lot were sold as "restored" missing the necessary flapper that is so necessary for proper operation.
