WTB - unusable rectangular cutout

Post by Brent Mize » Wed Oct 07, 2020 10:06 am

Hi all,
I’m currently restoring a generator tester for the Model T Museum.
It’s an Allen and it will be on long term loan in the museum.
I’m in need of a rectangular cutout that can be converted to a diode for that machine.
It does not have to be a Ford Script, but if it is that’s great.
Please let me know if you have one you are willing to part with.
Here’s my machine (left) and the museum loaner machine side by side. Mine has the Ford Rectangular cutout and the other a later can type cutout.

Thanks for your help!

i cant really help you but I have a question -
is a diode replacement something that can be done to any old cut out? For example, I have a 21 studebaker with a nice original cut out mounted on the firewall and it isnt working. I would love to just have the insides replaced if that is possible. Is there a shop that does that somewhere?

Linus,
Yes, it’s very doable.
You will just need to only if the car is negative or positive ground.
That’s really all that’s necessary. The diode just passes current in one direction only.
Post a photo.
Thanks Brent

Bob,
Thank you for looking. I do however believe that those are too wide.
The Ford type was different in shape and the feet went in the other direction.
Here’s a photo of the Ford type cutout.

Bob,
Please let me know how wide the Kingston unit is.
That will be the key if I can or cannot use it.
Thanks!
