Larry:
i will check to be certain , but the laminated shim is .016" thick ... being 8 .002 shims total ... in theory a single .002" shim is removed from 1 side of the cap to effect a .001" adjustment ... if a smaller increment is needed a person may lap the caps ... i will lap with wet 180 sandpaper on a precision surface ( lapping block) ... hope this answers your question ... the shims supplied are a standard production product sold by Snyders Antique Auto and probably most other parts suppliers ...always an optimist ...Gene French
