Watchout
There are still people on this parts section who do not keep their word. I bought a gas gauge, made the deal, agreed to the full price and shipping and later the same day I get a Email that sad he sold it to someone else. Thanks a lot pal, Bob P.

Re: Watchout
Hey Bob, If it makes you feel any better, that gas gauge looked like a poorly sealing, potentially dangerous accessory to me. Maybe a neat display item, but that’s it!

Re: Watchout
I'm reluctant to respond on this but I feel I have to. Jumping to conclusions too fast can cause turmoil. I had the gas gauge for sale, and for some reason after Bob said he'd take it, was having trouble getting responses from him, maybe not his fault, but not mine either, I've never experienced anything like this. Then after listing another part for sale, had several responses to buy that part and in responding to those that were too late, telling them that it was already sold, erroneously responded to Bob that he was one of the too late guys and so he thought that I was talking about the gas gauge that I had already sold him. I sent him an apology but I have a feeling that our email messages are still not getting through properly or with regularity. Never had this problem before so have no idea what's going on. The gas gauge is his and was always his once I responded to his "I'll take it!.

Re: Watchout
For what its worth.....
Posting a notice of intent to buy in the forum, should be followed by an email not a PM . There has been enough people complaining that they didn't get the PM . PM's don't work? So don't send PM's follow up with an email and if someone says that they sent you a PM and whether you got it or not respond with an email. ... and everybody is happy

Re: Watchout
PM's work, keep your pm account clean and erase old PM's. Works the same as a email account when it gets full. There is no rule on here to respond by email only. This is the sellers choice. I have never had a PM not go through and I email to the persons that wish that type of response.
Tell me why your PM account is not working and mine does all the time. If your PM's are not working it should be reported to the moderator and resolved.
Sorry, rant over.

Re: Watchout
You only see a pm if you are logged in and many people don’t log in. It would be a great improvement if pm’s would generate an email that says you have a pm. I wonder if this Is something the club can address?

Re: Watchout
Why wouldn’t you want to log in?
You have to be logged in to create a post, whether in the for sale section or otherwise. If you are logged in to create the post you will see your PM alert. I don’t understand
It is easy to skip over a email with so much junk emails as you are deleting them. There is no spam or junk in the PMs to wade through.

Re: Watchout
Bottom line, IMHO. I know both these men, and both are as honest and nice as the days have been long. Honest mistake, I can see myself doing the same thing, either direction, and I can also see me fixing things after the dust settled. There are some real snakes out there nowadays and that wasn’t the case years ago, but I see a happy ending here and I’m glad of that !
Danny, I don’t get PMs, don’t want PMs , don’t want to know how to get or fix it so I get PMs. I’m an old man, and PMs are just one more thing to fool with. BUT, I’m also the last man in the world without a phone, so again, JMHO

Re: Watchout
Hi, I am the guy, I do not like PMs. Texts, or emails when buying or selling something because this is the crap that happens. I am old fashioned and a 2 minute phone call would have taken care of this Saturday. I left my number right away but no response by phone. Less chance of error in talking, oh well. I am too old fashioned I guess. When I get a message that it was sold to someone else how am I to know. I hope this can get fixed this afternoon. I do not have his phone number, he has mine, Thanks, Bob P.

I understand those who don’t like the technology and I respect that. I have to deal with emails and texts as part of my business daily . I also deal with customers on a handshake still.
I love you all.
Sometimes it gets confusing

Re: Watchout
I too have been bitten by the PM dog. It’s sad that we have members who do not login and never see their PMs. I learned my lesson; emails are more prolific than PMs (hold over from Facebook). I only wish we could list everyone’s phone number and JUST call to complete the deal. It takes time to retrain the entire world - in the mean time - SEND an EMAIL, send a PM and call if the phone number is available - hopefully you’ll get the item you want !

I don't know Ed, (the seller), personally, but I have always held him in high regard. I'm sure this will work out. Just a cross up in communications I think.

Re: Watchout
Hi, I just got a call from Ed, nice guy, deal done. It was very nice talking to him. I received a message from him meant for someone else, which was the mix up. Modern technology is not always good. Thanks, Bob.

Re: Watchout
With all the conflict over PM communication, I would think that more of us would have abandoned it. Perhaps many do not know that you can disable it!
Click on these in order:
Your own name at the top right of this page
"User control panel"
"Board preferences"
"Allow users to send private messages (NO)", then "Submit" at the bottom of that page
Note: You can also disable emails if you care too BUT others must have a way of knowing your address in order to email you. Putting it directly in ads is a great way to let scammers with email harvesting programs get your address. Hint: Put a picture of your email address in your ad. Harvesting programs cannot yet read pictures!

Re: Watchout
Again, scammers will not pm you
I still don’t get why anyone is having pm issues. Pm is like texting on your phone. Emails sometimes go into the junk box depending on how your spam filters are setup. That’s where you really lose communication

The Phone sure works good, That means talking on it, I do not text either. They used to have a telegraph, (texting). Then they went to a great invention, called the telephone, then they went to texting, (telegraph). Whod a thunk it? I can not figure out why so many Model T people are so modern in communications. (OLD TIME BOB).

We also had the Sears Roebuck catalog, (the Amazon.com of its day), then that went out of style. Now we have Amazon.com, (the modern Sears Roebuck catalog), and we think somebody has invented something new... Go figure
