WTB 1924 Engine

Post by SurveyKing » Sun Mar 07, 2021 6:56 pm

This might be a long shot, but I would like to find a 1924 good rebuildable engine or block bearing the serial number as close to 9,495,000 (March 11) as possible. That was approximately the number of my 1924 Touring originally but since had been changed out due to a cracked block 30 years ago. Please let me know what you have and if you can take it to Chickasaw as I have a friend of mine who can pick it up for me. Even if I can find one made in March (9,427,000 to 9,622,000) I'd be a happy camper.

Thirty years ago when you changed out the cracked block engine did you keep the old block and does that number match your current VIN number ? In 1923 Ford stopped using casting dates and by late 1923 stopped using the cast Ford script in the block. The only way to tell a 1924 or 1925 block, (pre 1926 type) is by engine number. If your goal is to get a block close to the old engine number it would be better to find the best condition 1924 - 1925 block you can to start your rebuild with and then remumber it to your number, you will be putting a lot of money into the rebuild. Even Ford back in the day sold unnumbered replacement blocks that were to get the original number they replaced.

I’ve got a 9772446 but that maybe too far off from where you want to be.

Some time in 24 they quit adding FORD Made in USA on the side of blocks as 25's do not have that.

Also in 23-4 the round dial was still visible where they use to have day month and year on so there is special dates for this block.

Nope.... I looked.....One 1918 engine, two calendar year 19/model year 1920, a serial 3,933,901; a serial # 7,474,130 and a serial# 11,801,993...
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people 🤪

Hi George. Does your serial number 11,801,993 happen to have the FORD script on the driver side of the block? Just curious as we are having a debate when that was stopped. Thanks
