WTB Fake Frontenac Valve Cover

Post by ModelTWoods » Tue Mar 09, 2021 1:39 am

Years ago, someone was casting a fake Frontenac valve cover that fit on the top of a stock Ford iron head to make it look like it had a Fronty overhead. Lang's says they aren't made anymore. Anyone got one for sale?

Is this what your looking for?
Two years ago I visited the guy that made these and the other RAJO and Frontenac casting. He said he sold his inventory to Snyder's.

I can't tell about the valve cover in the top picture, but the valve cover in the Snyder's ad is a repo for a real Fronty head; the description says nothing about it being a "fake" Fronty valve cover. The "fake" cover looked like the rea thing, but was wider, longer, and shaped differently on the bottom edge because it had to sit on top of, or fit completely over the Ford head. Lang's said they only sold one or two, the entire time that they cataloged them.

It certainly appears to be the 'fake' Fronty valve cover that is no longer available, but it is impossible to be certain without seeing photos of it sitting on a stock head from all sides; front, rear, and right side. I have always assumed that they were held in place by a bracket under the cover which fastened to the head with one or more head bolts. I'd love to see more pictures. Is it for sale?

Had one of those, never did finish the speedster and parted the whole project out, sold off the dummy alum parts at a swap years ago. You fasten the dummy cover, with that center bolt to a sheet metal strap to a head bolt. The dummy cover cleared exposed head bolts, but would need a gap or notch made to have the spark plug leads come out to the coil box. Perhaps longer plug wires too, but never did finish install, but looked cool staged up :) .

Yes, Dan, that's what I'm looking for. I remembered about the mounting procedure and the need for spark plug holes or slots on the bottom edge.
