What is that other wire wheel lurking in the background thru the doorway?

You need the hubs on which they mount, and the hubcaps. Then you need to closely inspect the beads on the rims. These an just as easily be rusted away like standard Ford clincher rims. That would mean finding replacement rims and a new set of spokes to rebuild them. The value of your nugget will depend on these factors.

There are some wheels that can be run reliably in original condition... if all the spokes are still tight and there is not too much rust in the rims, wheels can be cleaned up and painted, and perform reliably for many years.

The big unknown is how much rust is between the spoke nipples and the rim dimples. This rust can build up and make the spokes feel tight at first... but after driving on the wheels, the rust layer can break down and reveal the true condition of the wheel... loose!

Price... your guess is as good as mine...?

Most of the wires I see are too far gone for economical restoration to safe use considering that there are new excellent T quality ones available.

I'm leery of all of them.

My guess would be maybe $500 a wheel without hubs and caps, if you do a full restoration on each; sandblasting, replacing the rim and any spokes if needed, and a good coat of paint. If you’re not going to do the work, then the price should be less.

Randy, the photos of the rims show they are good, at that point at least. No sharp edges, no rust in the rim base. If the rest of th rim is like that, you have a good pair. To some one needing them they will have extra value. Now you just need to find that someone.

That rim looks very nice! If it’s that good all around... it would probably clean up nicely

I have a rear end assembly with the driveshaft and everything attached and springs on it, they are rusty, but probably work for a trailer. I also have a front axle with some rusty springs on it. Just curious, why would you want the drive shaft on a trailer?

Definitely prime them. They will rust while you look at them otherwise. I'd use primer/surfacer suitable for lacquer. Then you have a base for both lacquer or enamel. It is still a porous coating, and they should be finish coated as soon as possible.

Randy, if that is your sandblast result, don't worry about priming them. It shows how good the rims are, and that is a benefit when selling. They will need a much more thorough clean-up before painting.
