No Longer Needed - Brass Oval Head Slotted Machine Screws -

Post by CudaMan » Fri Jun 04, 2021 5:35 pm

Hello, I am looking for some brass, oval head, slotted machine screws for the side lamp brackets on my 1912 Flanders 20. The thread size is 5/16-18 and minimum length is 1-1/4 inch. I can cut down longer ones if necessary. I am looking for at least four, but will take more if you have them.

I searched on line and can get them in stainless steel, but not brass. Thanks! :)

Update - I found some 5/16-18 slotted oval head machine screws on a boat propeller website, so I ordered ten. They are 5 inches long, so I will have to cut four of them down to 1-1/4 inch to suit my purposes. Still interested in brass ones if somebody has some, thanks.

Mark, have you checked McMaster Carr or Fastenal? Just a thought.

Thank you all for your replies. Yes, I did check all of the major (and many obscure) fastener suppliers. Thank you also to the folks who sent emails expressing concern about using brass for such a structural and fatigue prone application.

I found some made of stainless steel and some made of silicon bronze, both are on their way, so I think I'm covered. :)
