Caution: this tool will make you extremely popular with anyone that has a model T or is building 1 from scratch. I bought one from Jack a few years ago and the other parts from Dan at the same time. Then I stopped answering my phone & door. Ha, great tool and insert plus taps

John is correct. This is one of the best tools made for a Model T.

Re: FS: Steven's Front Axle tool frame
As a newbie who is learning about my "T" can you tell me what this actually does? Doesn't the "T" have a kingpin that fits snugly in the axle and into bushings of the spindles?

Re: FS: Steven's Front Axle tool frame
Chris H, Yes, the king-pin should be tight in the axle, and the spindles have bushings in them. Over the many years, many king-pins became loose, and wore the axle. Because of the way the weight of the car forced the king-pin to one side, they tended to wear the holes off center. It is nearly impossible to get a repair properly centered without one of these tools. And if a repair is not properly centered, you will forever have issues with the caster and camber. Original era tools like this are somewhat rare, so we are grateful for people like Jack P that have taken the effort to reproduce a faithful, and accurate, copy.
Another thing that can happen, because the king-pin is threaded into the lower end, and tends to wear most on the top end? Simply replacing the king-pins with new ones can sometimes stress the threaded end, and they can sometimes break! A long-time very good friend of mine has a Rajo powered racing car. Many years ago, he was very fortunate that while doing 90 mph (YES! Clocked at 90!) when the left front king-pin broke, he was able to skillfully guide the car onto the shoulder of the road with the left front wheel cocked back about 45 degrees. Fortunate, in that the broken king-pin hanging down from the top held the wheel sort of in place long enough that he could regain control and pull over.
He is not the only person I have known to have a king-pin break that way. Just the only one I know that did so at 90 mph.
I don't have one of these tools. Fortunately, I have never needed one. I have always been able to find an axle with both ends all good. But it is something I check on every T I put together.
