For Sale, original wooden pick up bed for Ford Model T roadster. Nice hardware with spring loaded latches. Some wood rot along front where there was ground contact during long term storage in a barn. $500. Text 23one 557 997two.

Jeff, that is one of the nicest beds I have seen advertised. It amazes me that someone with a 'patina' car has not gotten hold of it yet. i was intrigued with the tailgate latch mechanism. Could you please post a couple of detailed photos of it?

As requested, more pictures of the hardware. Hard to see but there is also a metal strip along the top edge of the tailgate held in by nails.

Fastener hardware is round headed bolts with screwdriver slots and square nuts. The short angle is located at the front center of the bed.

Love that latch mechanism! In Australia we call those slotted head bolts and half square nuts gutter bolts. They are typically used in sheet metal work, in joining 6' lengths of guttering for instance. I have only ever seen them in 3/16" and 1/4" diameters.

Those bolts are called round headed screws in USA, but alas, many people are confused by the name screw for anything except sheet metal or wood fasteners.

Is there an access door to get to the battery? Not seeing one in your photos.

Yes, there is a removable hatch for battery access. the picture shows the second and third floor boards only go half the length of the bed. The forward half is a hatch. The two hatch floor boards are fastened together by 2 stringers so the hatch comes out as one piece. The hatch rests on the forward and middle bed cross braces so the hatch is longer than needed for the battery but it provides the same structural strength as the rest of the bed floor. Two wood screws are holding the hatch in place. A clever and well thought out design.

This never sold on the Forum and I didn't make it to Chickasha so it has been forgotten about, but is still for sale, so here we go again. Back to the top...still for sale, still $500, and yes I still live up north in Charlevoix Michigan...drive to the middle of nowhere and then go another hour and there I am, easy peasy. It will fit in the back of a modern pick-up truck bed with room to spare. I have other nice T stuff for sale to make your trip worthwhile, 26-27 Ford steel pick up bed, 26-27 wire wheels and hubs, 1917-22 NOS touring side curtain set, and so on and so forth. I am not sure but you might get a view of bigfoot from my back yard if you come on the right day. Act fast, offer and availability is extremity limited to only another year or two.

The buyer never followed through so it is available again. Winter is coming soon here in northern Michigan so do not delay.
