Battery Box

Post by Original Smith » Thu Nov 18, 2021 5:23 pm

The battery boxes are finished. As I mentioned before there are NO TOPS. I'm still cutting the tabs, and drilling the drain holes on a few. I bought cardboard boxes to mail them in. The price is $60 each, plus shipping. I dropped UPS because they have gotten so expensive, but will check with Fed Ex and USPS to see what their basic charges will be, but it's going to have to be on an individual basis. You are responsible for painting and assembly. You must bend the tabs down to get the bottom into the box, and bend them over after it is in. I will ship them out in the order I got them on my list. I can only ship a maximum of two to a box, disassembled. If you wanted three, it's going to have to be two boxes, unless I can find something else to ship them in. I need a complete address to ship them plus the $60. I will trust you for the postage later. My address is in the roster, or you can email me for my address. Sorry it took so long. I'll get these out when I can. Thankyou, Larry (original)Smith.

I am researching shipping costs now. No fun. I will only accept checks, no Pay Pal.

The rosters were printed several years ago. Maybe 10?
Here is an overview of the outrageous shipping costs. East coast approx. $22.00. The Los Angeles area is $9.80. Anywhere in between those points will be somewhere in between. I will try to get at least two mailed out per day, less tour days! I have chosen USPS, because they don't require box dimensions as UPS, and Fed Ex do.

Only been a member for a few years and If members are supposed to get a copy of the roster, I never got one. Google has an address L Smith in your City/State at 2349 xxxx xx but I can't trust that to send a check. I sent an email a few days ago and haven't received an response so here is my request and email - I would like two. Thank you

Here is what I think I'm going to do. I will box them and take them to the post office. When you get the box, you can send me a check for $60 plus the postage which will be stuck on the package. My address will be on the box.
Painting: The best way to paint is to paint the two sides and bottom separately, and then you can put it together. The two sides just slip together, bend the 8 tabs on the bottom down before painting. They are what holds the box together.

Sent the first one out USPS yesterday to Tennessee. Shipping was $24.35! Yikes. I can't do anything about that.

I started mailing out battery boxes this week. I can't get more than two in a box. My goal is to get at least two out per day when I'm not out doing something else! These boxes come apart in two places. Both sides are the same. The bottom requires bending the 8 tabs straight down before painting. This is what holds everything together. I suggest painting everything apart, but that's your decision. The average cost for shipping has been between $22.00 and $24.35.

I recently had some player piano bellow cloth shipped to me--the cloth cost me $120, and the shipping was a bit over $64!! They used FedEx ground, which I hear is one of the more expensive shippers. No, I didn't have a choice in shippers. Thank you Larry for doing this!

Mark: Since when did Ford use wing nuts to hold the lid on? Look like you have the early lid.

I've got over half of them mailed out. Be sure to note my address on the shipping box, and note the cost of shipping on the stamp. I appreciate all of you guys who like authentic reproduction parts.

I still have two or three battery boxes available. Tim Pearson and Tarik Baghdadi expressed interest, but I have never received addresses from either of these people.

I sent the last of the battery boxes out yesterday. Three went to Canada, and two went to Australia. Everyone so far is pleased. I thank everyone for their faith in my product. It's too bad that Snyder couldn't do the same way back with his incorrect product, not to mention the Ford script he put on them that Ford never used.

I got my box from Larry a bit ago, excellent box, and Larry found a shipping box that it JUST fits inside. Thanks for another great product Larry!
Now if someone had the bucks to make dies and a stamping machine to make the lids, just takes $$$$!
