WTB: Speedster Steering Column Lowering Dash Plate and Wedge

Post by Southfork Creek » Tue Dec 07, 2021 12:27 pm

I need to lower the steering column on a speedster project.

So I need the Steering Column Lowering Dash Plate and also the Wedge that goes under the steering column-to-frame bracket.

All the vendors are sold out of them, and I understand the folks that made them don't make them now, so it does no good to back-order.

They should be pretty easy to make, but I thought I'd start here to see if someone has some they are not going to use. Thanks!

I reproduced these steering column angle plates from an original period piece for Lang's that might work. Bob

Thanks Frank, I had not seen that older thread, and it has some very good ideas in it.

I think I like the metal (not wood!) wedge for the frame bracket best. I will also try the 2 bent metal straps on the dash idea, as that seems very simple. Thanks again!

Unfortunately, it seems Bob Scherzer passed away earlier this year, which was terrible news.

I might have an aluminum lower bracket wedge - I'll look tomorrow.
