This turtle deck is a 1914 to 1919? With the early style handles. The bottom wood is there but will need replacement.
The sheet metal hinges are broken and need repair or replacement. It still has most all of it's original paint. This is a very nice piece. $475.00 plus shipping, I'll deliver it for free to the Tulare Swap Meet in April if paid for in advance. If interested please respond by email only, thanks.

Re: For Sale: Early Roadster Turtle Deck
I am pretty sure this must be the one I have seen, and borrowed to take measurements to restore mine which was in poor condition. The one I borrowed from Phil was a very nice early take-off original in very good condition. Unless this is a different one that I have not seen, the paint is not shiny, but remarkably decent looking and would be a great choice to use on a nice unrestored runabout. If again it is the one I have seen, I would use the original wood. If one did choose to restore this one? It would be pretty hard to find better one to start with.
Phil is a good guy I have known for (oh my god!) fifty years now when he was still in high school and I was going to college!

Re: For Sale: Early Roadster Turtle Deck
Here are photos, someone long ago punched a hole for a battery cable in the inside as seen in the photos. Missing one 3/8" thick board on the bottom (easily replaced). As mentioned before the two hinge halves on the lid are broken but shouldn't be a big problem to fabricate new ones.

Re: For Sale: Early Roadster Turtle Deck (New Price)
This piece is in great shape. The hole on the inside was punched through so no metal was removed. The metal can be tapped back into place and welded closed. The broken hinges on the lid are an easy fabrication job. And the wood piece missing on the bottom is a no brainer.
I thought I'd restore it and then sell but figured that someone might prefer it as is. I don't need it now and would like to see it go to someone's barn find or to further their restoration along. It will just keep collecting dust in my garage otherwise.
