Tim, why don't you repop a couple so then there will be more unobtainables?

Just curious, what kinds of problems are there with the reproductions? I may have committed a “Tim mistake” too!!

Really shitty casting, and it was wayyyy undersized. I think likely an original was just used as a pattern and lots of shrink in aluminum. If it was easy , everyone would do it. In all fairness, that was a long time ago and perhaps they’ve been improved, I sure don’t know. I only get burned once. Mine has 100 years of pedigree and every scratch is a story. If you bought a repo one ( and I’m not sure if he made fronty covers ) from Dan McEachern , you will be pleased, otherwise don’t say you weren’t warned.
Joe, it would cost me $1000 to make the first one. I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but don’t see an upside.

Re: Frontenac vale cover, original unmolested FS
I've never offered a Fronty cover because others were making them, and I'm a firm believer that this hobby does not need, nor can it support multiple sources for the same part. The issue with using an old valve cover for a pattern is that aluminum shrinks 3/16" per foot so an 18" long part comes out almost .3" shorter, enough to make an ill fitting reproduction. My Rajo and 8 valve Roof covers are cast using matchplate patterns and hardsand cores so that the castings are top quality and fit - almost better than originals.

What Dan said ! I bought a Rajo cover from him a long time ago. The only thing wrong was it was a far better quality casting than an original. And, it fit like a glove!
