Re: Bauer steering wheel
What was attached to the three holes around the steering column hole? I assume the other hole was for a horn wire.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Bauer steering wheel
That accessory horn button mount does not cover the three holes. On Us cars there was never a need for a special mounting for a horn button. Early 1915 cars with magneto horns had the horn button on top of the steering column. Then it moved to the side of the column after that.Perhaps there was something else fitted to this particular wheel.
My wheel, purchased at Chickasha in 2010 has no holes. It is mounted with the usual steering wheel nut. In my case, the Canadian horn button is attached to the nut in the usual way.
They are really nice wheels to use, and a source of many curious questions by onlookers.

Re: Bauer steering wheel
There were 2 different Bauer Fatman steering wheels for the Model T . One had a single hole for the horn wire and you could use an aftermarket horn button. The other came with a horn button assembly and was held in place with 3 screws. The one you have for sale would use Bauer's horn button assembly.

Re: Bauer steering wheel
Thanks Duane. That switch would cover the three holes in the vendor's wheel. Good spot. Presumably both styles of buttons would require a free loop of wire under the wheel, just like the Canadian horn buttons require. I guess the aim was to put the horn button in a more convenient position
