Looking for 28x3 wheels
I’m looking for a set of 4 FORD (2 front, 2 rear) 28x3 wooden artillery style wheels. Any wood condition is acceptable, what I want is the hubs and rims and I can have the wood replaced. This is for an early Ford project. And yes - I have posted on the EFR site. THANKS MTFCA!!

FYI. Check with Lang’s. I know for a fact that they have 8- brand shiner new correctly formed 28x3 clincher rims just waiting for wood.

It might or might not help if you clarify if you are looking for the rims & hubs for a 1903 Model A; or 1904ish A or some say A/C or 1904 C or the 1906-1908 Model N & Model S. All three are listed as having 28 x 3 wheels/tires (double tube for the earlier ones). I don't know if the hubs for all of them interchange or not. I would guess not. I would also guess you want a 1904 C hubs -- but that is just a guess.
And if you are looking for the 1906-1908 N or S you can also use the 1906-1908 R & SR (runabout) 30 x 3 wheels as the hubs are the same. And if you wanted to, you could have the wheels rebuilt as 28 x 3 with a different rim.
And thanks for loaning us Kathy -- she is doing a great job supporting our club and our hobby as our Vice President.

Thanks for the information Hap. I was hoping to get wheels appropriate for a 1904 Ford Model A but I am aware the wheels for the Modrl AC and Model C will work also. The hubs are smaller than a modrl T and the rear axles are not tapered like a model T.

I looked on the Early Ford Registry site but I didn't see your request there -- I may have missed it? While not as active as this site, I would guess there are more 1903-1905 Ford folks there than here. You might also put a "Parts Wanted" in the Horseless Carriage Club magazine, AACA magazine, and also their web sites. There are lots of older collectors who don't do the Internet/Facebook etc. And if you can add a drawing with dimensions you may help someone figure out what those parts they have under the work bench are really for.
And you might ask to see who else needs/wants one or more of those hubs. There have been several successful times when a few folks needed the same part and it wasn't available. And they would go together and have 5 or 10 etc. made. Glenn Rand had some NRS&SR exhaust manifolds cast and machined not too long ago. And 5 folks are going together now to each have an NRS&SR crankshaft made. Often times the per piece cost is the most for the first item made and then it is less for additional items. That helps everyone out as the overall cost per item is reduced.
And there is a chance that there might be a drawing of the front and rear hub under the member's area. It has been a long time sine I looked through the drawings. And of course I was looking more for the 1906-08 NRS&SR parts. With an accurate drawing or a part that could be copied, there is a good chance a duplicate(s) could be made. Lang's has reproduction front hubs for the Model T's listed as: Front 2803. For the NRS&SR a T hub can be put on a lathe and the flange can be cut down a little smaller (the T for 1911-27 is 6 inch; (while the 1906-1908 NRS&SR is 5 inch), bolt holes welded up, new bolt holes created. For the NRS&SR rear hub it is NOT tapered. But the 1909 to early 1911 rear axles were also straight and NOT tapered. And finally for the NRS&SR I believe Glenn Rand figured out a way to put a later tapered rear axle inside the NRS&SR rear housing. Modify the rear hubs to look like straight axle hubs on the outside but have the taper on the inside to match the taper in the hubs. When you take the hub cap off you can tell it was changed, as there is a nut rather than a pin holding the rear wheel on.
Good luck with your search. And letting others know that you are looking for them is also helpful.
