WTB - Commutator control rod swivels

Post by Jerry Young » Tue Aug 09, 2022 3:48 pm

I need a couple of commutator control rod swivels - P/N 3534S. Chaffins doesn't make them anymore so none of the vendors (that I contacted) are oit of them as well. If no one has some new units, I would take good used ones, just advise what you have, how much and how you want to get paid.
Thanks

Jerry, be aware that original swivel joints are going to be threaded 12-32...not a common thread (actually, 7/32 - 32, but you're not going to find that easily unless you go online...however, with some effort, you may find 12-32).

An excellent source for obsolete taps/dies is: Drillsandcutters.com

By the way, 12-32 taps and dies are available on Amazon, not sure of the quality, FWIW

Hi Jerry

if the supplier listed is "Drills and Cutters" in the Amazon ad, I can recommend their High Speed Steel products as I have been a customer for oddball things over the years. Sometimes they are USA, sometimes Japan, but usually CHINA. In a REALLY tough bind, the carbon steel tools are useful for about 2 uses in brass and that's about it, but they are really intended to chase and clean up existing threads and then be lost into the bottom of a tool box never to be seen or used again.

Scott, thanks for the update, I don't recall the country of origin for the Amazon parts, however, I did find the taps and dies on the website you mentioned, price not bad either.
Thanks
Jerry

I can supply a very limited number of the proper timer control rod swivels with nut. They are NOS New Old Stock and there will be no more when these are gone. If you do not have a threaded rod, I will throw in ( until they run out) a later control rod that you could cut off the end and thread for the swivel. Priced at $45 each, domestic postage $10. Let me know if you prefer bare iron or bright.
