WTB Speedometer gear - Found One!
Today I was driving and happened to look down and noticed my speedometer was dead in the water.... I got out and immediately went to the right front wheel and saw the smaller gear nut had backed off and chucked the gear. I walked the road for 2 hours looking for it. I have no idea if it was fiber or metal. It's a Johns-Manville Speedometer. I would greatly appreciate any information. I am attaching pictures of everything.

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
I think they look like this and are made of fiber. Check with Russ Furstnow the speedometer rebuilder, he would know. If not, This place may have them.

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
I am not really sure if it was fiber but as long as it fits I'm sure it will be fine. I will give it a shot tomorrow and call. I feel like it might have been metal especially due to the wear on the wheel gear itself. Thank you very much for the information.

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
The majority of drive pinions were fiber - seen a couple metal ones, though.

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
I'd be more concerned with the road wheel. It certainly looks experienced. There appear to be register marks on the outside circle of the wheel bolts, perhaps indicating that something might well have been in play to cause the departure of the speedo gear. Also, those nuts are on wheel bots which have not been staked to keep them from becoming loose.

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
The wheel gear needs to be removed and the teeth filed and cleaned up. The swivel or something has made obvious contact with the teeth, and that gear will quickly chew up a new fibre gear in its present state.

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
The fiber pinion gear you need is a 12T8P gear. I have them in stock. 1stnow@msn.com I hope this helps, Russ Furstnow

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
Bryce, After looking at your photos, I noted that you are missing the collar and thin nut that holds the fiber pinion in place. Check out the photos of the parts of the drive and you can see the collar and nut. I hope this helps, Russ Furstnow

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
Well after a total walking time of the near 3 block stretch of road I have yet to find the gear that has the collar which mates to that gear which Russ informed me I would need as well. Pretty unfortunate but those are the cards that were dealt.

Re: WTB Speedometer gear
All, I just wanted to give a shout out to Russ. He got me all squared away and Dad's "T" will be in working order soon enough. Very grateful for this forum.
