Michael,
There were a couple different styles of the brass windshields. The 1912’s with the two piece dash would have used a brass windshield where both the halves were the same size. If your 12 has a single piece dash your windshield would have a larger lower piece and a smaller upper piece. Finding an original may be harder but they are out there. If you do find one you’ll have the usual scratches, small dents, and hairline cracks. I just recently purchased a brass windshield from speedway motors, they make a nice product that takes some fitting to get everything right. You can get a reproduction Rands windshield tag. I recommend if you don’t already have some hinges, find an original set of Rands hinges though. Enjoy the hunt!

Thanks, mine would be the one piece dash. I have thought about going that route since you’re probably right…. Trying to find one that is in good shape and doesn’t have cracks will be difficult to find.

You won't regret going the Speedway Motors route. Although it's a rather involved process, it's much easier than working with an original. If you go that way and want a copy of a piece I wrote on working with the repro stuff give me a shout out.
