WANTED L&R T-28 Ultrasonic Cleaner Manual or Schematic

Post by J1MGOLDEN » Mon Dec 05, 2022 8:39 am

My L&R Ultrasonic Cleaner looks like new and is low useage, but has three resistors that are rather burnt.

With a schematic or manual to determine why they may have toasted, I can repair this unit.

The company in New Jersey is no help!

Jim I do wish you luck!

I had a gorgeous 3 gallon unit which I unwittingly allowed to run low on liquid in a 110F shop two summers ago and zorched the electronics. They do not like to run with more than around 1" of the inner wall being dry.

That said, after finding an outfit that would look at my unit (Denver, I think), IF they could repair it, it would be $750+

I held my nose and bought a big VEVOR unit and am almost unhappy to say that it is great. My L&R was 10 years old with probably 3 hours total on it and cost $1250. The VEVOR cost about $125 and after 120 hours is still going strong.

On the positive side, it is powerful and will blast holes in aluminum foil coupons anywhere in the tank. The downside is that the entire unit is made from very flimsy stock and with no sound absorption material in the housing it is almost ear-splitting...hearing protection recommended. Two summers and maybe 120 hours of use and it is just fine.

I wish you luck on the schematic. I came up with bupkis

Nice of you to locate and publish this Frank

I hope Jim can get some help but I found that the service centers will only work on Warrantee units. Mine was unfortunately out of Warrantee due to age. Maybe Jim will be luckier than I.

A small part can be put in a glass jar with any solution you wish to use and the jar just put in the tank solution.

I have not been able to find a schematic to determine what size the three burned resistors are.

There are several possibilities on why they burned.

Most likely the unit was left running way too long or there was a lightning bolt that came down the power line.
