Brass Jno Brown carbide generator for sale. Bought it with the idea to use it on my car, but it makes the rest of the brass look bad. Will sell for what I paid plus shipping. $1200

Your decision John, but that puppy will polish up just fine. I wish I had "before and after" pics of the original generator I bought for my '11 Torpedo, thankfully the guy did a "test spot" to show me I was getting a good one, (it was practically black with tarnish) and he got so "into it" he finished the whole thing for me, and it's beautiful. Just my opinion.

Tim, the problem is with the rest of the brass on the car, not the generator.

Guys that generator for sale is not a JNO Brown
It is a Corcoran. I have the same brass generator. If it’s not a repo there should be a marking that reads CORCORAN Detroit MI on the rim on the top half. Although it looks like a JNO Brown, JNO Brown generators had a different base, it was heavy cast brass bottom and the top rim was a heavy cast brass piece as well. There was also a brass tag on the lower section of the generator. Below I posted a link of a real JNO Brown generator and you can see the obvious differences. You can make a Corcoran look like a JNO Brown with the correct bottom and top rim pieces. There is a correct top rim casting on eBay right now. There was a guy on the forum that was making the correct brass tags that were on the body of the generator.

Still available. Just a few comments. It is well known that Ford used whatever parts were in the supply at the time. Often headlights were not matched to the side lights or tail light. The generator was not necessarily matched to the rest of the brass. Today we often want everything to match but that was not the way it was 100 years ago. in any event, a new repro John Brown generator is over $2000. This generator was used very little and is well worth the asking price. I am very fortunate that out hobby has so many experts. By the way, the generator illustrated in the above post is from 1909 - 1910. Do you think that John Brown may have changed their generator in subsequent years?
