WTB: Ford Script Rear Hub Puller

Hello all. I'm looking for a Ford script rear hub puller with damaged or stripped threads (the threads that thread on to the hub). I'm using this as a donor for a non-model t project and need to bore out the ID and rethread it, and just can't bring myself to ruin a perfectly good hub puller.

Has to have good threads in the jack screw.

Thank you.

Might be easier to give the diameter and thread count of what you need, or car make. Maybe someone has one already made for what you need it for. There were many different hub pullers made over the years not just for Ford that would have different diameter or thread count/pitch. The better Ford ones were split so boring and re-threading might not be a cake walk with one of those. Besides having ruff cast exteriors you would need to deal with the clamp bolt tab if you are trying to do this on a lathe. Putting a shim between the tabs so you don't get too much crush when chucking it up if it fits in the chuck might work.

Snowt,
Not knowing your machining skills, a threaded bolt same size as the jackscrew thread and threaded in with a locknut will drive the casting just fine. You are reboring so any eccentricity will be taken care of. As Mark said, a shim locked in the slot will help. I would shim it about .005” undersize so your finished thread ends up slightly oversize in the unclamped state (springback) and for ease of turning onto a hub. I enjoy these kinds of projects and appreciate your want for an otherwise useless damaged puller. After waiting what seems like forever, I finally snagged a really nice puller for my TT’s this morning on EBay.

Or he could set it up in mill and use a Criterion boring bar to resize the hole and a tap to thread it. Once again depending on skill set. Jim

My plan was exactly what Bushmike says above.

But I will measure the thread and post info.

I have some machining skills but lucky to have a 40+ year retired machinist who is willing to teach.
