Auxiliary Transmissions - Light Muncie, Heavy Muncie, and Moore

Post by namdc3 » Sun Mar 05, 2023 8:03 pm

Light Muncie - Gears look good with normal wear. Everything spins nice. Under-Direct-Over-Reverse. Roughly 1.78:1 U, 1:1 D, and 0.73:1 O. Were used in Ts and TTs. I don't have the couplers. $350

Heavy Case Muncie (painted one) - Gears look very, very good with exception of underdrive gear on lower shaft, which has 4-5 teeth in a row damaged. Photo of damage included. Everything spins nice. Under-Direct-Over-Reverse. Roughly 2:1 U, 1:1 D, and 0.73:1 O. Were used in Ts and TTs. I don't have the couplers. $300

Moore - I didn't open this one up, but everything shifts and spins nice. Under-Direct. 2:1 U and 1:1 D. Based on the torque tube adaptor diameters, I believe this to be a TT unit. Torque tubes and shafts included. $250

Pickup in Kansas City metro area or free delivery to Chickasha. Happy to answer any questions I can. Thanks!

Hello, I actually bought the Moore transmission from y'all's table yesterday and I figured I'd give an update. I opened it pretty easily and every part seems in perfect condition. Now If only I could find part diagrams for it, gonna be fun getting the proper bearings.

Awesome! I’m glad to hear that! It sure shifted nice, and I’m glad the gears look good! The Muncies haven’t sold, so if anyone is through Kansas City sometime and wants one or two, let me know.

Hi Mathew,
Check the dimensions of the bearings you may find that there are modern bearings that match the dimensions. I found that some Warfords
use the same bearings as model A's and can be had in fully sealed versions that will work great for a good price. Ed Archer turned me on to
this for Muncies and found it applies to many other applications. If you leave the seals in they don't leak very much and the bearings will
last longer than we will right out of the box. Thanks Ed. If you read Lane machines info they do the same.
Craig.

Interested in the Light Muncie if still available. Delivery would be to 95823.

Thanks!

Hey, Tom. I'm sorry that I didn't see your original post. I didn't get a notification. I'd prefer not to ship it, so I'll likely drag it to Chickasha again next year.

Gary, no, I don't have the support of the couplers. Sorry.

Gary,
Support/crossmembers and couplings are hard to find for Muncies. I have been making my own out of self preservation. I made a crossmember
out of running board support & the drive couplings out of 13/16" deep Budd wheel inner nut socket a 7/8" piece of square stock
(milled to 13/16") and the rear coupling out of a cut down spicer PTO drive line yoke. Just want to say that you might not want to pass up a
good Muncie becuse it dosn't have them.
Craig.

Nikolas,

Really sorry to hear that. If it would help, I can prepay everything. Unfortunately I’m a few years away from traveling that direction.

Thanks!
