Re: RARE TOOL, STEVENS T-181
Hello Glen,
I would pay a fair and reasonable price of $400 for it but I don't know how anybody could justify that price for fixing a few wheels or the pride of ownership of a wall ornament. I need one of those to go through about 100 wheels and that is exactly what I need to do it.
Hopefully you won't feel offended.
Respectfully,
Ken Buhler

Re: RARE TOOL, STEVENS T-181
Has anyone made a new tool that does what this tool does? While it is great to have an original, it is what the tool does that is important.

I thought this tool was mentioned a few years ago. What was said - good or bad - I don't remember

Re: RARE TOOL, STEVENS T-181
Glad I got one of Jack’s when he made them. Only did one run he said too much work. But for what they are listing for now maybe he will reconsider.

Robert
that tool you linked to is only good if you can manage to get it onto the hub and that is usually the very place it is damaged...the utility of the tool advertised is that it goes OVER the bad spot and clamps onto good threads and then is unscrewed, uprighting and reworking the existing threads such that they reattain their original or nearly-original set.

Re: RARE TOOL, STEVENS T-181
Could a hub be put in a lathe and new threads rolled onto it?
