I recently moved from a state that will not be named to the state of Texas. I am putting together a 1921 model TT truck. It came with a more transmission during the move. The movers lost my torque tube. Can anyone tell me the correct size and if they have one for sale I really don’t want to cut up a perfectly good torque tube, unless I have to to do that of course I would need the length. I sure could use some help here.

Mike, shame about the loss of your torque tube, but fitting a replacement is not a real problem, other than finding a donor tube to cut.The casting on the front of the box bolts around the tube for some 4-6'", so there is plenty of support. With the box bolted to the rear end, you can just measure the distance from the front of the box to the back of the motor. Being able to slide the tube a little in the casting helps getting the front bush up against the U joint flange. When I fitted my Moore gearbox to my buckboard, we had to juggle the pre-cut tube to get things lined up, and then clamped the front casting bolts up tight to the tube. I am presuming you have the driveshaft, but are missing the tube.
Hope this helps

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. It’s good to know that someone has been through this vetting process. I will keep track of the tips and use them if I have to cut up a torque tube I do have the driveshaft stay safe and stay away from spiders, snakes, crocodiles, well you know.

Try Mark Chaffin. He post's here and I know he just dismantled a few TT rear ends.

Yes, I tried there. I spoke to Dave and he double checked with Mark and there are no TT torque tubes in their possession. Good suggestion though.

Mike,
What is the approx cut length? Is shipping one an option? I know of several in Wisconsin and Michigan. If you are not in a huge hurry, I can find you one before summer.

Mike,
I have an uncut TT torque tube. However, the expense to ship to Texas from Wisconsin would be $$$$$ --- let me know.

If shipping remember to get a quote from Greyhound Bus. It might surprise you.

BushMike that’s a great suggestion!! I had a turtle deck sent by bus and picked it up at the bus line station for less than $75.
