FS nickeled whatchamacallit for loose steering wheel

Post by Grizwaldo » Sun May 19, 2019 9:27 pm

I'm sure this thing has a technical name but I don't know it. Should have some fiber around the inside of the circle to clamp around the gearbox. This one is in pretty nice shape and has PAT PEND in both halves but no other writing that I could see. $35 shipping included. Please PM me if interested.

I have an NOS one of those in the original box. It has a red felt liner that fits around the steering gear case, and it is indeed nickel plated. They were sold by Big Four Hardware in Stanberry MO. I bought it from a fellow at a swap meet in KC. MO. about twenty five years ago or so, mainly because Stanberry isn't very far from us. He had bought out the Big Four Hardware store a few years before that and he said he had two 55 gallon barrels full of them. Not sure just how good they worked, but a neat accessory to display along with the many other accessories that "fixed" problems on our T's. They still pop up for sale now and then. Dave

Dave,
Someone had to explain to me how this thing worked a couple years ago. I guess when the gearbox gets real sloppy, the circle clamped onto the gearbox and the fingers clamped onto two spokes of the steering wheel keeping it from bumping the dash anyway. I wonder if there are two barrels of them still hoarded somewhere. This one is spoken for, thanks MFTCA.

Believe it or not, I sold on of those Saturday morning (NOS, LIKE BRAND NEW IN THE ORIGINAL BOX WITH INSTRUCTIONS!) to a guy who had a spot at Luray, along with some other NOS goodies and a beautiful Bergs water pump. Hopefully he is reading this and will chime in. :D
Kind Regards,

Rick Rice
