Does anyone have any 6 volt Texas T black ones or any 6 volt blue bosch ones? I'd prefer to support a forum member than order from big store like Amazon and such.

Question: How did you mount the coil - up, down sideways. Oil filled should be mounted upright

Thank you for the reply. I do in fact have it mounted upright. I even have it towards the driver side of the firewall so it's away from the hot exhaust manifold. Will 1.5 Ohm of resistance be enough? For some reason I thought the preferred amount was 2 to 3.5? I'm not entirely sure.

They always say to use the recommended coil - whatever that is - since Texas T has no specs'. Also look at their offerings. The "blue" coil is the same part number as the black one. The "Flame Thrower" coil may be the PerTronix 12v Flame-Thrower Coil - 3.0 Ohm - 40000 Volt (they make both an oi filled or epoxy filled ones). Voltage is what produces spark. My guess is that they all produce 40K volts hard to tell not everyone includes any specs, except for some high performance engines.

Remember the equation Voltage = Current x Resistance So 6v= 4amps x 1.5 ohms & 12v = 4amps x 3ohms
The reference to 2 -3 ohms would be applicable to 12v coils.

I'd go with the Duralast coil & if that didn't wasn't satisfactory then one that spec'ed 6v, 1.5ohm & 40Kvolts. Oil Filled is usually less expensive for upright mounting. Epoxy filled if you anted to mount it horizontally or upside down.
