A Starter Ring Gear Problem

I have 4 New Starter Ring Gears that are all drilled and tapped for the original 14 X 24 TPI.
I recently ordered a set of new brass screws for the magneto plates.
The two packages were just labeled 3278 and are 1/4th X 24 Screws, not the correct 14 X 24 screws.
Some people do not seem to know the difference!
This narrows my problem down to finding a 1/4 X 24 Tap, buying a new Made in China Starter Ring Gear tapped for 1/4 X 24 TPI, finding a 1/4 X 24 Tap to enlarge the holes in the rings I have, or finding some correct 14 X 24 brass screws.
Does anyone know the source for the tap required or the correct screws?

It has been a while since those ring gears where made, remember them well making sure you got the screws to match them.

The 1/4x24 tap is available through multiple suppliers. A quick internet search will give you the options.
A metric equivalent is 6mmx1mmx50mm high tensile bolts. I used these and they are pretty much self locking. Still though use lock tight and peen the ends.

Call the vendor to let them know they’re packaged wrong and get the correct ones

Find a OLD Harley mechanic and borrow a 1/4"×24 tap.

Bob Bergstadt made 3,000 of the 14/24 screws and I bought 100 of them. He said Adam Doleshal just sends them into the new ring gear and peins them without issue. Bill Devine at Bird Haven bought the remaining stock so check with him.

You can get either tap here for a pretty reasonable price.

A Good Lead, thank you.
I got a phone call and was told Snyders has them.
They didn't have them on their website a week or two ago, I should have called and asked them.
So, I should have three sets delivered on Wednesday.
I will buy a couple taps, as well!
