As the title says, I am looking for a rear axle brace that will fit on a 26-27 rear end. Let me know if you have one and what you would like for it.

Depending on how it mounts at the outside end, any bracket should fit, as the pumpkins are all the same.

Has the cast brackets that clamp around the axle housing, you have to drill mounting bolt holes and of course add your own cross bar. A length of steel rod is all that is needed.
1046-500 Truss clamping brackets not drilled (set of 2)
$66.00[/b]
Put a set on my '12 project open express.

I have a pair of cast brass outer brackets in my swap meet stuff. I don't remember selling them. if they are of interest, I could go digging in the shelves to find them. You would just need to make the rod, and perhaps a saddle over the clamshell joint.

What keeps the rod in place when it goes under the pumpkin?

Mine has a cast bracket that nestles one of the lower pumpkin bolts.

On my '12 open express project, just did the shade tree fix, bent the steel rod to run close under the pumpkin. At least looks good to me! Besides the heavy cast later pumpkin is plenty strong.
And some types of the rear axle braces were made with just a support rod, not fixed to the pumpkin.

Did a lucky find one time at Hershey Swap years ago, a complete original accessory axle brace, with the plate that fits to one side of the pumpkin, and had square lock nuts to fix the long rod that was threaded also in the middle. Paid a bunch more $$ for that original set up, as the seller knew what it was and how rare. My later add on garage made unit was so less $
