Wanted: Stromberg OF return spring, or really any of the OF carburetor accessory parts. Right now my return spring is a rubber band Haha. Anyone with dimensions on the spring I could probably.get what i need at the local hardware store.

What spring are you talking about? There are only two springs on an OF. One is the coiled spring the holds the economizer needle on it's seat. There other one in the choke mechanism.

If you don't have the original cable control to operate the choke, most guys use the original choke pull mechanism to put the choke "on", and rely on gravity on the rod to let it open. This works some of the time but is not a "for sure" way to guarantee that the choke opens and stays open. On the ones I do I make up a small coil spring attached at one end to the arm that normally is operated by the rod from the front of the car, and the other end to a wire that wraps around the plug on the bottom of the carb. A different attachment is required for both designs of the OF's, but they insure that the choke is held open. I'll try to find a pic. Bruce

I make them by the handful, I have a jig to wind them. I don't sell them but I'll give you one.
Send me an address and I'll send you one.
I don't think I've taken a picture of an OF for years, this one is probably ten years old. Now I powder coat them along with the rest of the steel parts.

These are all long gone. Every one got a new spring. I've probably made several hundred of them.

Matt : The spring that Stan is describing is the one to open the choke after the pull wire through the rad shell is released. With the original Stromberg cable system the dash mounted cable holds the choke plate rigid and in whatever location it was set in. The spring I'm talking about is used to assist pulling the choke open when the original Ford rod and wire system is in use. The two springs in the discussion do very different things.
